Palazzo Malabaila
It is the most important Renaissance palace in town
It hosted King Louis XII of France
Palazzo Malabaila
The Palace was erected by the will of Alessandro Malabaila, and still represents one of the finest examples of the building renovation that took place in Asti between the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.
Alessandro Malabaila was a fervent supporter of the Orleanist government. Indeed, he decided to build this imposing palace to give a worthy welcome to King Louis XII of France, who was about to conquer the Duchy of Milan.
Structure
The palace, with an irregular quadrangular plan, was built on pre-existing medieval buildings, always owned by the Malabaila family. The building is in Bramante style and is characterized by a strong presence of the French school in the decoration of the facade, in honor of King Louis.
