Premio d'Asti d'Appello
The award strongly desired by Paolo Conte, a famous lawyer and chansonnier from Asti, after years recovers the name and the original concet of the Sixties: To offer a second chance to win to those novels that ranked second and third in the major national literary awards, putting them back at stake with an appeal sentence.
The event, chaired by writer and painter Leonida Rapaci, initially took place for only three editions, from 1966 to 1968. However, it managed to boast the honor of awarding works such as "Cosmicomics" by Italo Calvino and "Noi Credevamo" (We Believed) by Anna Banti.
Brought back to light in 2009, Premio Asti d'Appello (Asti Appeal Award) represents an opportunity for redemption for writers who, after accepting the regulation, present themselves with public speeches in front of an audience consisting of readers and magistrates. The sum of 10,000 euros goes to the winner.
The award is curated by Biblioteca Astense Giorgio Faletti (Giorgio Faletti Asti Library) and Associazione Premio Asti d'Appello (Asti Appeal Award Association), and supported by the Piedmont Regional Government, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Asti (Foundation) and Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Torino (Foundation).
